In answer to Ro's question from my perspective, I have been busy doing other stuff.  I certainly spend a  lot less time in front of a computer now that we no longer do Thaw. And I have to say I am loving it! I was the picture of domestic goddess-ness yesterday.  Picture this - me, in an cute little apron, baking cakes and cooking dinner at 4 in the afternoon! "Who is this woman, and what has happened to Kim?" I hear you ask. Well, I just have to admit that sometimes I really enjoy this "stay at home Mum" thing.  I figure I had better enjoy it while it lasts. Oh, and yesterday wasn't really the norm, I just made a promise to Laney.  She tells me I am definitely still "in".( Masterchef, that is.)

The girls very proudly display their butterflies on the fridge.
I found some great crochet patterns at an Oppy the other day.
Yesterdays cake
And a fruit and nut loaf for us grown ups
All baked with the help of my new little beauty
The chocky cake is from here. The CWA cook book handed down from lovely MIL.

Have been enjoying my colourful scarf I just finished
Few works in progress. This will be a cardie for Tia.
Granny square blanket for us, in the making.
I've been meaning to post a finished photo. Here's Tia's elephant.

Is anyone blogging anymore? Does anyone care. Has this race been run?

I have absolutely no shame in admitting that I like Willie Nelson.

In fact he's part of a long line of 'country' artist's that get a good playing in our house. I've been ruthless with my iPod lately, removing the music that just isn't me. The stuff that is left over is all quality, and gee what a surprise! Most of it was recorded 30+ years ago! Seriously I'm really tired of the new shit. Most of it is just that, and has been since the 80's. There's only a handful of albums each year that really float my boat. The rest are just filler.

I was lucky enough to go backstage and meet Willie after a show about 10 years ago. Magic moment. He played for 3 hours, until his fingers were bleeding. Kim fell asleep. I sat starry eyed, at one of my musical hero's.

If your new to Willie, try these albums, Red Headed Stranger, Teatro, Spirit and for that really early stuff try, Country Willie sings his own songs.

I'm really liking this philosophy, it's simple. I dig simple, I can do simple.

When I was waiting for my tattoo in Brooklyn this was the wall I stared at. I sat outside pondering the stencil work before me, while 'Brooklynites' wondered past devouring melting ice creams in the sweltering heat. Taxis and cars zoomed past and honked their horns indiscriminately, it's New York after all. Amongst all this chaos it's a great place to think in some sort of bizarre way. I pulled out my camera and made the record of this moment. Every picture I take is a record, an assistant to my ageing memory. As I get older I love looking over old picture albums, who doesn't? I'm intrigued by who we used to be, how we used to be, what we used to think. Thank goodness for cameras, yes?

NYC 2010

I know you have all been wondering what Kim and the girls have been up to, while the boy has been galavanting about on the other side of the world.  Well, I am glad you asked... ok, so you didn't, but I will tell you anyway.

Instead of focussing on the fact that Ro was in New York, exploring galleries and museums, and enjoying dinners out with friends, shopping without kids and enjoying strolls in Central Park, and the fact that I was left all alone, back in freezing cold Ballarat, all alone, to look after the children, all alone. (Not that I'm bitter. Oh no.... far from it.) I decided to catch up with friends and family in Melbourne and have a mini holiday of our own.  And quite honestly, it was lovely to see them all. We girls really enjoyed the school holidays, and enjoyed some proper, good fun, quality family time together.

OK, we did miss Ro a bit. And we are very happy to have him home.

Here are some pics from our adventures...

Watching movies in bed with Molly...
Look what the beautiful Daisy is sleeping under.... wonder who made that?
A ride on Thomas the tank engine with cousin Charlie. Toot toot!
Meeting our little second cousin Alice.
Staying with my wonderful Mum.
Enjoying our new table and chairs from Ikea.  Yes, they are Master Chefs at work you see.

And we are enjoying our NY souvenirs.

I'll catch up with you all in the next few weeks......

Hugs.....

I'm in Manhattan and I'm trying to make sense of the place. In reality the best thing is to not even try. I'm coming to the end of my adventure and although I love the crazy world that is NYC.......I miss my girls, all three of them. But I digress.

NYC is amazing as f$%^. Everything the Beastie Boys told me it was. I've been watching baseball, admiring world art and semi-enjoying $1 hot dogs.

I've spent so much time in central park, like a lazy bastard. I even treated myself to a romantic row boat adventure. Let me tell you it was good but without my lovely girls kinda weird.

I've definitely fallen into the trap of buying a heap of unnecessary crap and over spending but I knida don't give a crap. It's New York.

I got my new ink in Brooklyn and I rode the subway, seen amazing art and drank NY cocktails like Johnny Cash wrote good songs. The art museums reminds me of Europe and the bad service reminds me of Melbourne.

If you have time.......pictures here.

All in all I'm super dooper stoked to be here.

Steph...FYI....it's not just another big city. Its a melting pot of whatever your heart desires.

It's such an amazing place. So much to write about at this stage I'm just taking in. The diversity of people and demographic is phenomenal. It's busy, smelly, noisy and yet impressive all at the same time. This time of year it's super hot, next week we're due for a super heat wave, ouch!

I must admitI feel a little bit like a country hick visiting the big smoke, but I'm just keeping my head down and getting on with the experience of it all, no matter how much of a dag I feel like.

The wedding which I'm here to photograph was bloody rad. Central Park, sun beating down, good people and plenty of love to go round. Today however has been of a much slower pace. My first day since I arrived to sit down and chill for a bit. Now the work is almost over and I change hats from photographer to tourist.

I hope you're all enjoying the cold weather.
